I always take with a pinch of salt the claims made by big plant producers, particularly those about a plant’s hardiness.  A hardy gerbera?  Yeah, sure.  My cynicism was admonished by a Head Gardner I know who gave me a pot of Gerbera ‘Everlast White’ to show me I was wrong.  The plant has been in the cold greenhouse through two winters with its evergreen foliage looking fresh and healthy the whole time.  It starts flowering in June and last year produced its final flowers in December.  Best of all, the flowers are neater and smaller than the over-fed monsters you see in florists.

The flowers grow to about 30cm tall and are produced from June to November.  That’s impressive flower power.
