‘People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us’.
When I first read this in Iris Murdoch’s novel A Fairly Honourable Defeat, I thought I should have it tattooed on my forearm (or at least printed on a tee-shirt). It summarises perfectly my own attitude to plants and gardens.
I am a gardener, writer, plantsman and garden adviser based in Britain and in France.
My site is a collection of articles, advice, observations and occasional rants about plants, gardens and gardening. Some of them have appeared in another form in various gardening publications.
I hope you find the site useful. If you want to get in touch with me, please use the contact form.
